Tibet
Tibet is a high plateau region of Central Asia, north of the Himalayas, with a distinct language and Buddhist culture. It was brought under Qing overlordship in the eighteenth century. The incorporation of Tibet, together with Xinjiang, Mongolia and Manchuria, defined the territorial framework later inherited by modern China.
