Shivaji II

1696–1726 · 18th century · Also known as Shivaji II of Kolhapur

Shivaji II was a Maratha ruler, son of Rajaram and Tarabai, proclaimed chhatrapati as a child in 1700 with his mother as regent. When his cousin Shahu was released by the Mughals in 1707, a succession war followed, and Tarabai set up a rival court for Shivaji at Kolhapur. He was deposed in 1714 by a palace faction, and the Kolhapur line continued under his half-brother.
