Shravasti
Shravasti, in Pali Savatthi, was the capital of the kingdom of Kosala in northern India and one of the largest cities of the Buddha's time. The Buddha spent many rainy seasons at its Jetavana monastery, and Jain tradition makes it the birthplace of the tirthankara Sambhavanatha. Its ruins, at Sahet-Mahet near the Rapti River in Uttar Pradesh, are a major Buddhist pilgrimage site.
