Siege of Osaka

1614–1615 · 17th century

The Siege of Osaka was a series of campaigns in 1614–1615 in which the forces of Tokugawa Ieyasu attacked Osaka Castle, held by the Toyotomi family. The castle fell and the Toyotomi line was destroyed. This removed the last rival source of legitimacy and completed Tokugawa control.
