Sima Cuo

fl. 4th century BCE · 4th century BCE

Sima Cuo was a general of the state of Qin under King Huiwen. In 316 BCE he argued successfully for conquering Shu rather than attacking the Zhou royal domain, and he then conquered Shu and Ba, giving Qin the rich Sichuan basin. He later campaigned against Chu and was an ancestor of the historian Sima Qian.
