Sixth Dynasty of Egypt

c. 2345–2181 BCE · 24th century BCE

The Sixth Dynasty of Egypt was the last major dynasty of the Old Kingdom, with kings including Teti, Pepi I, Merenre and Pepi II, whose reign was among the longest in history. Its officials led expeditions to Nubia and the Levant, and objects of Pepi I were dedicated in the temples of Byblos. Growing power of provincial governors marked its last decades, before the First Intermediate Period.
