Statuta Sabaudiae

1430 · 15th century

The Statuta Sabaudiae were the general statutes issued by Duke Amadeus VIII of Savoy in 1430. They codified the law, the courts and the administration of his lands on both sides of the Alps, regulated social ranks, dress and expenditure, and organised the ducal council. Among the earliest general law codes of a European state, they long shaped the government of the Savoyard lands.
