Stratos (Acarnania)
Stratos was the largest city of ancient Acarnania in western Greece, on the right bank of the Achelous river. It served as the meeting place of the Acarnanian League and withstood a Peloponnesian attack in 429 BCE. Remains of its walls, theatre and temple of Zeus survive near the modern village of the same name.
