Šubić family

Also known as Šubići of Bribir

The Šubić of Bribir were a Croatian noble family from Bribir in northern Dalmatia, one of the twelve noble tribes of Croatia. They rose to great power in the late 13th century under Paul I Šubić, ban of Croatia and lord of Bosnia, and dominated Croatia and Dalmatia until the fall of Mladen II in 1322. A later branch became the Zrinski family.
