Battle of Gvozd Mountain

1097 · 11th century

The Battle of Gvozd Mountain was fought in 1097 in the Gvozd range of central Croatia, where the Croatian king Petar Snačić was defeated and killed by the Hungarian army of King Coloman. It ended the last native Croatian kingship, and in 1102 Coloman was crowned king of Croatia, beginning a union with Hungary that lasted until 1918.
