    Crusaders defeat the Seljuk Turks at Dorylaeum

    The First Crusade routed the army of Kilij Arslan I at Dorylaeum in Anatolia. The victory opened the road across Asia Minor and showed that the crusaders could beat the Seljuks in open battle.

    The First Crusade reaches Antioch and begins its siege

    A day after forcing the Iron Bridge over the Orontes, the First Crusade reached Antioch, Bohemond of Taranto leading the vanguard. Bohemond, Raymond IV of Toulouse and Godfrey of Bouillon took positions at different gates for a siege of nine months.
