Sun Bin

4th century BCE · 4th century BCE

Sun Bin was a Chinese military strategist of the Warring States period, said to be a descendant of Sun Wu, author of The Art of War. Mutilated through the jealousy of the Wei general Pang Juan, he escaped to Qi and advised the general Tian Ji, defeating Wei at Guiling and Maling. His treatise, Sun Bin's Art of War, lost for centuries, was recovered from a Han tomb at Yinqueshan in 1972.
