Sun Kewang

d. 1660 · 17th century

Sun Kewang was a Chinese military leader and an adopted son of the rebel Zhang Xianzhong. After Zhang's death in 1647 he and Li Dingguo led the remnants of his army into Yunnan and Guizhou and allied with the Southern Ming. He kept the Yongli Emperor under his control, but rivalry with Li Dingguo led to open war between them, and in 1657 Sun defected to the Qing, who made him a prince.
