Yongli Emperor

1623–1662 · 17th century · Also known as Zhu Youlang

The Yongli Emperor, Zhu Youlang, was the last emperor of the Southern Ming, enthroned at Zhaoqing in 1646. Backed for a time by former rebel armies under Li Dingguo, he held parts of southern and south-western China against the Qing, then fled to Burma in 1659. The Burmese handed him over to Wu Sangui, who had him executed in Kunming in 1662.
