Restored Toungoo Kingdom

1599–1752 · 16th century · Also known as Nyaungyan dynasty, Restored Toungoo dynasty

The Restored Toungoo Kingdom was the Burmese state rebuilt by Nyaungyan Min and his successors after the collapse of the First Toungoo Empire. From its capital at Ava it reunited the Irrawaddy valley, reasserted control over Lan Na and the Shan states, and governed more centrally than its predecessor. It fell in 1752 to the Restored Hanthawaddy Kingdom and was followed by the Konbaung dynasty.
