Respendial

fl. 406 · 5th century

Respendial was a king of the Alans who led one of their groups across the Rhine into Gaul with the Vandals and Suebi, traditionally on 31 December 406. According to Gregory of Tours, drawing on the lost history of Renatus Profuturus Frigeridus, his Alans saved the Vandals from destruction when the Franks attacked them, while another Alan king, Goar, went over to the Romans.
