Vandals

Also known as Vandal

The Vandals were a Germanic people who migrated through Gaul and Spain before crossing into North Africa in 429 CE. They established a kingdom centred on Carthage and sacked Rome in 455 CE. Accounts of the Roman Empire treat their conquest of Africa, one of the western empire's richest provinces, as a major blow, and accounts of the Garamantian Empire place their arrival in its account of decline.
