Zhaoqing
Zhaoqing is a city in western Guangdong, China, on the Xi River west of Guangzhou. In the 16th century it was the seat of the Ming viceroys of Guangdong and Guangxi, where the Jesuits Matteo Ricci and Michele Ruggieri set up their first mission in mainland China in 1583, and in 1646 the Yongli Emperor of the Southern Ming was proclaimed there. It is known for its Duan inkstones.
