Guangxi

Guangxi is an autonomous region of southern China bordering Vietnam, with Nanning as its capital. Its karst landscape around Guilin is famous, and it is home to the Zhuang, China's largest ethnic minority. Long a frontier of the Chinese empires, it was ruled by the Southern Han in the 10th century, and in 1851 the Taiping Rebellion began there.
