Taihang Mountains
The Taihang Mountains are a range in northern China running about 400 km north to south between the Shanxi plateau and the North China Plain of Hebei and Henan. Their passes controlled the routes between plateau and plain, and in the Zhou period the uplands were home to the Di peoples. In the 20th century they sheltered Communist bases during the war against Japan.
