Tailapa III

r. 1151–1164 · 12th century · Also known as Taila III

Taila III was a king of the Western Chalukya Empire in the Deccan, reigning from 1151. His reign saw the empire break apart: the Kakatiya chief Prola II defeated him, and his Kalachuri commander Bijjala II seized the capital Kalyani around 1156 and later proclaimed himself emperor. The Chalukyas briefly recovered under his son Someshvara IV.
