Taizhou, Jiangsu

Taizhou is a city in central Jiangsu province, China, on the north bank of the Yangtze. Its coastal plain was long a centre of salt production, and it was among the salt workers of the area that Zhang Shicheng, a salt boatman, began his revolt against the Yuan dynasty in 1353. The city should not be confused with Taizhou in Zhejiang province.
