Takaungu

Takaungu is a small coastal town in Kilifi County, Kenya, north of Mombasa. After the Busaidi of Oman took Mombasa in 1837, a branch of the Mazrui family settled there and ruled it as a semi-independent town. Some of its leaders joined the Mazrui rebellion against British rule in 1895–1896.
