Talal ibn Rashid
Talal ibn Rashid was emir of Jabal Shammar from 1848 to 1868, the son of the dynasty's founder Abdullah ibn Rashid. He consolidated the emirate's hold over northern Najd, encouraged merchants and pilgrims to pass through Ha'il, and undertook building works in the town. European travellers described him as an able and relatively tolerant ruler.
