Tamaroa
The Tamaroa were a people of the Illinois Confederation who lived on the Mississippi near the mouth of the Illinois river in the late 17th century. From 1699 French priests ran a mission among them and their Cahokia neighbours. Their numbers fell steeply through war and disease in the 18th century, and the survivors merged with other Illinois groups.
