Deforestation
Deforestation is the large-scale clearing of forests. In the Kushite Empire, deforestation linked to the fuel demands of iron production around Meroë is cited, together with possible shifts in Nile flooding, as an environmental factor that undermined the agricultural and economic base of the state in its later period.
