Tamworth
Tamworth is a market town in Staffordshire, England, on the River Tame. It was the principal royal seat of the kings of Mercia from the 8th century, and Offa had a palace there. The Danes sacked it in 874; Æthelflæd refortified it as a burh in 913 and died there in 918. A Norman castle stands on the site of the burh.
