Tarnowskie Góry

Tarnowskie Góry is a town in the Silesian Voivodeship of southern Poland, which grew up as a mining settlement after silver-bearing lead ore was found there at the end of the 15th century. Duke John II the Good of Opole granted it town rights in 1526 and a mining code in 1528, and it became one of the main silver and lead mining centres of Silesia. Its historic mine and water-management system is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
