1st century BCE · 1st century BCE

Teutomatus was a king of the Nitiobroges, a Gaulish people on the Garonne, and the son of Ollovico, a friend of the Roman people. In 52 BCE he joined Vercingetorix's revolt, bringing cavalry, including mercenaries raised in Aquitania. Caesar records that during the Roman assault on Gergovia he narrowly escaped capture, fleeing from his tent half-dressed on a wounded horse.
