Theopompus

c. 380–c. 315 BCE · 4th century BCE · Also known as Theopompus of Chios

Theopompus of Chios was a Greek historian and rhetorician, said to have studied under Isocrates. He wrote the Hellenica, continuing Thucydides from 411 to 394 BCE, and the Philippica, a vast history centred on Philip II of Macedon with many digressions. His works survive only in fragments and were noted in antiquity for their severe moral judgements.
