Tirana

Tirana is the capital and largest city of Albania, in the centre of the country. Traditionally founded as a town by the Ottoman notable Sulejman Pasha in 1614, it was chosen as the capital by the Congress of Lushnjë in 1920. It grew under Zog, Italian rule and the communist regime of Enver Hoxha, and since 1991 it has become the country's economic and cultural centre.
