Tolmides
Tolmides was an Athenian general of the mid-fifth century BCE. Around 456–455 BCE he led a naval expedition around the Peloponnese, burning the Spartan dockyards at Gytheion, and he settled Athenian colonists in several places. In 447 BCE he led a small force into Boeotia against exiles who had seized several cities and was defeated and killed at the Battle of Coronea, which ended Athenian control of Boeotia.
