Treaty of Münsingen

1482 · 15th century

The Treaty of Münsingen of 1482 reunited the County of Württemberg, which had been divided in 1442 between the Urach and Stuttgart lines. Agreed between Count Eberhard V the Bearded and his cousin Eberhard VI, it declared the county indivisible under the senior ruler, with Stuttgart as its capital, and prepared the way for Württemberg's elevation to a duchy in 1495.
