Tudhaliya I

c. 15th–14th century BCE · 14th century BCE

Tudhaliya I was a king of the Hittites, usually dated to the late 15th or early 14th century BCE, at the start of the period often called the Hittite New Kingdom. His annals record campaigns in western Anatolia, including the defeat of the Assuwa coalition of 22 lands, whose captured soldiers and chariots were taken to Hattusa. Scholars disagree on whether he and a Tudhaliya II were one ruler or two.
