Kurunta

13th century BCE · 13th century BCE

Kurunta was a Hittite prince, son of Muwatalli II, who ruled the appanage kingdom of Tarhuntassa in southern Anatolia in the 13th century BCE. His treaty with the great king Tudhaliya IV, inscribed on a bronze tablet found at Hattusa in 1986, sets out his borders and privileges. Seals from Hattusa suggest that he later claimed the title of great king himself.
