Tukoji Rao Holkar III
Tukoji Rao Holkar III was the Maharaja of Indore from 1903 to 1926. Taking full powers in 1911, he presided over the growth of Indore's cotton trade and public works. In 1926 he abdicated in favour of his son Yashwant Rao Holkar II rather than face a British inquiry into the murder in Bombay of a merchant who had sheltered his former courtesan, Mumtaz Begum. He later married an American, Nancy Miller.
