Tukoji Rao I Puar
Tukoji Rao I Puar was a Maratha commander who, with his brother Jivaji Rao, accompanied the Peshwa Baji Rao I into Malwa and received Dewas around 1728. The brothers' joint holding developed into two princely states sharing one capital and dividing land and revenues: Dewas Senior, descended from Tukoji Rao, and Dewas Junior, descended from Jivaji Rao.
