Nancy
Nancy is a city on the Meurthe in north-eastern France and the historic capital of the Duchy of Lorraine. The dukes made it their residence from the 12th century, and outside its walls René II defeated Charles the Bold in 1477. Under Duke Stanislaus Leszczyński it gained the Place Stanislas, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and around 1900 it was a centre of Art Nouveau.
