Battle of Nancy
The Battle of Nancy, fought on 5 January 1477 outside Nancy in Lorraine, was the final battle of the Burgundian Wars. Duke René II of Lorraine and his Swiss allies defeated the army of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, who was killed. His death ended the Burgundian bid for a realm between France and the Empire, and Louis XI seized the Duchy of Burgundy for France.
