Ujjain

Ujjain is an ancient city in central India on the Shipra River, one of the seven sacred cities of Hinduism. It was a major commercial and administrative centre on routes linking northern India with the western coast. Accounts of the Maurya Empire name it among the empire's urban centres of craft and commerce, and under the Gupta Empire it was an important city and centre of learning.
