Person
Umar Din
Umar Din was a sultan of the Walashma dynasty in the Adal Sultanate in the sixteenth century. Accounts of the Adal Sultanate note that Imam Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi held real power as leader of the jihad against Christian Ethiopia while maintaining a nominal Walashma sultan, first Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad and then his brother Umar Din, as a figurehead. This dual structure collapsed after Ahmad's death.
