Walashma dynasty
The Walashma dynasty was a Muslim ruling family of the Horn of Africa that governed the Ifat Sultanate and then the Adal Sultanate. After Ifat's defeat by Ethiopia around 1410, Sabr ad-Din III re-established the dynasty's state at Zeila around 1415, founding Adal. In the sixteenth century real power passed to the Imam Ahmad ibn Ibrahim al-Ghazi, who kept Walashma sultans as figureheads.
