Ungjin Commandery
The Ungjin Commandery was the administration set up by Tang China to govern the former kingdom of Baekje after its conquest in 660. Based at Ungjin (modern Gongju), it was headed for a time by the Baekje prince Buyeo Yung under Tang supervision. Silla, Tang's former ally, gradually seized its territory, and by 676 Tang withdrew from the peninsula.
