Valentinois

The Valentinois is a historic district of south-eastern France around Valence, on the left bank of the Rhône. Its counts of the Poitiers family ruled it from the 12th century until 1419, when it passed to the Dauphiné and so to the French crown. It later became a ducal title, given to Cesare Borgia and Diane de Poitiers, and is still borne by the princes of Monaco.
