Person
Vali Khan
Vali Khan was khan of the Kazakh Middle Juz from 1781 until his death in 1819, succeeding his father Ablai Khan. Recognised by both the Russian Empire and the Qing Empire, he struggled to control rival sultans, and Russia began to deal with other claimants, recognising a rival khan in 1816. After his death Russia did not confirm a successor and abolished the khanship under Speransky's reforms of 1822.
