Virovitica

Virovitica is a town in northern Croatia near the Drava river and the Hungarian border, in western Slavonia. A royal free town of medieval Hungary, it was held by the Ottomans from 1552 to 1684 and then became the seat of Virovitica County, which covered much of Slavonia in the 18th and 19th centuries.
