Vohipeno

Vohipeno is a town in south-eastern Madagascar, on the Matitana river near the Indian Ocean coast. It is the historic centre of the Antemoro people, whose ruling clans settled there around 1500 and whose scribal clans kept sorabe manuscripts in Arabic script. The town remains a centre of Antemoro traditions.
