Wangara
The Wangara, also known as the Dyula, were Mande-speaking Muslim merchants of West Africa who organised long-distance trade in gold, kola nuts, salt and other goods. They established trading communities across the region. Accounts of the Songhai Empire note that Wangara merchants served as the primary long-distance trading intermediaries of the Songhai economy.
