War of the Castilian Succession
The War of the Castilian Succession was fought from 1475 to 1479 over the crown of Castile after the death of Henry IV. Supporters of his daughter Joanna la Beltraneja, backed by Afonso V of Portugal, fought those of his half-sister Isabella I and her husband Ferdinand of Aragon. Isabella won, and the Treaty of Alcáçovas of 1479 confirmed her rule and divided Atlantic interests with Portugal.
