Western African Ebola epidemic
The Western African Ebola epidemic was the largest outbreak of Ebola virus disease on record, spreading from Guinea in late 2013 to Liberia and Sierra Leone. It caused more than 28,000 cases and over 11,000 deaths, nearly 5,000 of them in Liberia, closing schools and halting much economic life before it was brought under control in 2016.
